How I Got a Job at LinkedIn in 2004
I first spoke to Jeanette Borzo in 2001 for an article she was writing for the WSJ about comparison shopping. [09-24-01. “Searching: Out of Order?”. The Wall Street Journal]. Recently I asked Jeanette if she minded that I share the message below, and she said it would be okay. This was the message I sent to LinkedIn cofounder Konstantin Guericke via LinkedIn in late 2004. It helped me get an interview for the Director of Marketing job at the company, when LinkedIn had probably 25 or 30 people working out of the office on Rengstorff in Mountain View. I was very impressed by the people I met there like Konstantin, Reid Hoffman, Matt Cohler, Patrick Ewers, Josh Elman, Sarah Imbach and others, and soon thereafter decided to leave NexTag to join. Relationships are very important in this small world we live in.
I am always interested in hearing how connections are made and pieces of the puzzle come together.
